Learn to make your own umbrella
Class fee includes umbrella pattern and umbrella frame. You will need to provide your own fabric.
The finished product will be a 48″ classic umbrella.
Fabric: 1-3/4 yards of 43″ to 45″ wide OR 1-1/4 yards of 54″ to 60″ wide all over print or design recommended for your first umbrella
Fabric NOT recommended for the first umbrella: stripes, plaids or one way designs
Iron fabric, but it is not necessary to pre-wash
Fabric scissors, straight pins, hand sewing needle, safety pins
For later at home: fray check, hot glue or tacky glue, waterproofing spray if regular cotton is used
RMSV will NOT be waterproofing them in the store
Sewing machine (MUST BRING even if you bring a serger)
NOTE: Serger is not needed to hem your umbrella. You may either do a very narrow hem or turn the lower edge up and cover the lower hem edge with a small trim or braid (approx. 4 yards). Also you may cover the raw edged seams with a zigzag stitch.
