Holy Cow, it’s September Sew Fun already! I really wish time would slow down a little! I am sewing like crazy to get ready for October Sew Fun. In the meantime, our September Sew Fun presenter has completed her projects and has a lot to show you!

Half Yard Bags and Purses

This fantastic new book from bestselling author Debbie Shore contains 24 projects: 12 bags and 12 matching purses. Choose from flowery patchwork totes, backpacks with faux leather detailing, clasp-top clutches, cute floral messenger bags, practical folder holders and a stylish business travel bag. In addition, match each bag with a matching purse. Make each purse in the same style and from the same fabric as its corresponding bag. Mix and match the bags and purses or make yourself the pair.

Balboa

Nope, not Rocky or Vasco Núñez, but a beautiful quilt pattern from A Quilting Life.

Balboa quilt pattern from A Quilting Life for September Sew Fun

Ever wonder how quilt patterns get their names? Well, for this pattern designer, the quilt reminds her of the carefree summer days spent vacationing at Newport Beach, California. Balboa Island is nearby, and going there was always a fun day-trip to look at the cute beach houses and get an ice-cream.

Don’t let the curves scare you! Use the template included in the pattern. However, if you use the Circle Savvy Ruler for cutting your background and pie sections, then the cutting is absolutely accurate, making the sewing that much easier! Either way, the pattern includes directions for piecing with or without the ruler.

This quilt is also a Layer Cake pattern that finishes at 62″ x 76″.  You could easily make it 76″ x 76″ by making an additional 5 blocks.

We Whisk You A Merry Christmas

Well, you know once the leaves start to turn it’s really time to start sewing for Christmas if you haven’t already. Get started with a cute Kimberbell design pack.

We Whisk You A Merry Christmas by Kimberbell is simply adorable. You can make it using your embroidery machine, or do some handwork. We have everything you need to make these designs: the button pack, embellishment pack, and 10×10 fabric squares.

Don’t worry, there’s lots more to do with this collection that making a quilt. How about holiday placemats or aprons? These would make great gifts!

Holiday Lodge

Do you sometimes find it hard to pick out fabrics for your projects? Well, if you do, a kit might be the answer! Check out the Holiday Lodge kit we’re showcasing at September Sew Fun.

Holiday Lodge Quilt Kit

Designed by Deb Strain, the kit includes the pattern and fabric needed to piece the top and bind the quilt. This quilt design employs pieced blocks with a cut panel for a quick project that is sure to please this holiday season. In addition to the panel, seven beautiful fabrics are included, enough for the quilt top and binding.

Learn all about Edge to Edge quilting with this quilt. If you have never used this technique, be sure to pick up the book Edge to Edge Quilting on your Embroidery Machine to get started.

But Wait…There’s More!

(Guess I still have that in my head after Tech Party!)

Of course, we have much more to show you. Hand-stitched pendants, cup wraps and even more quilts are ready to show.
