Description
In this fun and hands-on sewing class, students ages 8 and up will learn the fundamentals of machine sewing on their personal sewing machine. Perfect for brand-new sewists, this class focuses on building confidence and essential skills, including sewing straight lines, curves, and simple corners via pivots. Learn basic terms commonly used in sewing as well! With guided instruction and plenty of encouragement, each student will complete their very own envelope-style pillow to take home and show off!
No prior sewing experience needed HOWEVER you do need to be familiar with using your sewing machine (threading, bobbins, basic features all covered in our free machine 101 class)—just bring your supplies, creativity, and a readiness to learn!
*Those under the age of 17yo REQUIRE an adult to attend with them. The parents do not need to register however they do need to sit with their student for the class duration.
Machine 101 class is required prior (this class is free and required prior)
Bring pre-cut woven fabric (non-stetchy). Your fabric for the front of the pillow will need to be pre-cut (before class) into a 17" x17" square. The back fabric can be the same or different, its up to you! You will need TWO pieces, both will need to be 17" x 11." If you would like to purchase fabric at the store prior to class please come early so you can do this or call and let us know and we can cut this for you prior!
Additionally you will need thread on your bobbin and for sewing. Have fun picking a color! You will also need a 16"x16" Pillow Insert. We will have these for purchase if you need one.

Fabric (see above), Sewing Machine (see above), Pillow Form (see above), Your sewing machine, Scissors, Thread, An extra needle - just in case, Fabric marker, chalk or something to mark the fabric.
