What’s the Buzz: October Events at RMSV

by Cathy Ellsaesser, posted on

It’s almost October and Halloween is coming! No tricks from us, though, just treats. Here’s a look at some of the fun October events happening this month at Rocky Mountain Sewing and Vacuum.

Strut Your Stuff (#RMSVwhereisew)

We’re looking for pictures of your sewing spaces! Do you have a special place to sew? A She Shed or a dedicated sewing room? We want to see it (even if it’s your dinning room table)! Make sure and follow us on Instagram at @rockymountainsewing and post a picture with the hash-tags #RMSVwhereisew and #rockymountainsewingandvacuum.

Don’t have an Instagram account? Post a photo below in the comments, and we’ll add it to our drawing. You can also post pictures as a comment Facebook.

On October 15, we’ll randomly pick one of the pictures to win a $100 RMSV gift card, to help you create your dream sewing space.  Please note, the winner must pick up the gift card from one of our stores.

We are excited to announce the newest class offering to hit the Anita’s University campus, Next Level Embroidery 301! Whether you have attended prior 101 or 201 classes from Anita’s University, or if this is your first time joining us, you’ll be amazed at the new things that you will learn! Explore many different embroidery techniques — such as heirloom stitchingfree standing lace, and coloring your embroidery project. Take a closer look at unique appliqué methods such as watercolor appliquéreverse appliquéghost stitch appliqué and so many more. Thinking outside the hoop, visit dimensional designs through button-up embroidery and reverse trapunto. This is only the beginning of the education you’ll receive, and we can’t even describe how much fun you’ll have! Check out this short video from Anita Goodesign for some great previews of the types of projects we’ll be doing.

This two day October event is at our Aurora location: Thursday & Friday, Oct 18th & 19th, 10am-5pm OR Saturday & Sunday, Oct 20th & 21st, 10am-5pm

Sign up here, but hurry, there are only a few spots left.

October Sew Fun

Because of the Anita Goodesign event, Sew Fun is a week later this month. Come welcome our new presenter, Lisa! She will help you get prepared for fall and winter and all the holidays those entail. She has inspiration for decorations, garments, and gifts. In addition to our usual books, patterns and notions, we will have mini charms packs from five different fabric lines to take the guesswork out of planning your projects. I’ll go into more detail on on a couple of the projects in a later blog.

Here are the dates for Sew Fun in October:

Aurora: Tuesday: 10/23: 10a-12p or 2-4p or 6-8p

Littleton: Wednesday: 10/24: 10a-12p or 2-4p or 6-8p

Arvada: Thursday: 10/25: 10a-12p or 2-4p or 6-8p

Colorado Springs: Friday: 10/26: 1-3p or 5-7p

Event Center

We were so excited when workers showed up last week to begin work on our new event center. We can’t wait to start holding events there, hopefully in November.

Classes

Of course, there are always machine usage classes, software classes, open sews, project classes, quilt clubs, Anita Goodesign clubs, Kimberbell clubs, Stitcher’s Garden workshops, etc. held every month at the stores. So check out our  October Calendar to see if there’s a class or an open sew you’d like to attend. Open sew time is great to just get away from everyday distractions, meet new people,  get help, and get those UFOs done!

P.S.

If you missed the Facebook post, check out these lovely quilt tops made at the September 22 Jelly Roll Race.  Congratulations to Audrey A. who won the RMSV Jelly Roll Queen title with a time of 44 minutes, 2 seconds!
