Spring Forward to March Sew Fun Sessions

by Cathy Ellsaesser, posted on

With the Sewing and Quilting Expo March 22 to March 24, we’ve moved up our Sew Fun sessions to March 13 – 16. We hope you can join us for March Sew Fun, and that you’re bringing an OFU (Object Finished Up) for Show and Tell.

Here’s a preview of a couple of projects our Sew Fun presenter has in store for you.

Hopeful Hatchings

Who will hatch first? You decide with this adorable collection of baby animal patterns from Sweetbriar Sisters!

Each of the 10 baby animals included in this book will fit inside a Zipper Egg, so pick your favorite! From birds to turtles to dragons, whoever hatches from your egg is sure to bring a smile to your face. What a cute surprise for a child’s Easter basket!

The Hopeful Hatchlings collection is a great way to take beginning sewing skills to a new level.  The full-color pattern book includes full sized pattern pieces and several easy-to-sew patterns perfect for the beginning seamstress.  Zipper eggs measure about 7 inches tall and each baby animal is made to fit inside. Start with a simple design and work your way up, adding new techniques to your skill set with each easy-to-follow pattern.

Patterns Included: Toby the Turtle, Charming Chicks, Oakley the Owl, Baby Bird, Penny the Platypus, Paddy the Penguin, Dalton the Dragon, Delightful Dinos, Fried Egg, Mama’s Nest, Zipper Egg.

Look at this Snowman basket set. These would be great for storing Christmas cards, ornaments, candy, and more. Make a label on the side of the basket which makes the top of the hat. Use brown pipe cleaners for the arms and buttons for the eyes and nose.

Sew Expo

It’s that time again for the Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival at the Denver Mart. At the festival, you can find a wide variety of sewing, quilting, needle-art, and craft supplies from many quality companies.

Of course, RMSV will have our usual large display and great deals, so stop by our booth to see the newest machines, product demos, and to enter to win a sewing machine valued at over $1000.

The festival is open March 22nd and 23rd from 10 am until 5pm and on March 24th from 10am until 4pm. We hope to see you there!

UFO Challenge Update

I can’t wait to see how many people are meeting the UFO challenge, and are going to “show and tell” their OFUs (Object Finished Up) at February Sew Fun! We are so excited

Before we get to the Show and Tell part of the Sew Fun program, though, we get to see what our Sew Fun presenter has cooked up for us. Here’s a couple of previews of what’s in store for you.

We are so excited about the response to the UFO challenge. We have a little over 200 people participating! We’re still experiencing some growing pains trying to make sure we have enough “Show and Tell” gifts and raffle tickets for  each month, so please bear with us. We just hope you’re having fun and turning some of those UFOs into OFUs!

I am working on my list, but can only claim one as done. I finished a diaper bag for my nephew’s son. My nephew is a big Notre Dame fan, so it was pretty easy to decide the theme for the bag.
