Glorious Spring

After all the snow we’ve had in, I’m ready to thing Spring. This lovely wall hanging by Jane Babich is just the ticket to brighten up any house and put us in the mood for warmer weather. Okay, so we still have snowy March and April to get through, but it doesn’t hurt to dream about the delights of spring…gentle breezes, the warmth of the sun on our face and bunnies frolicking in the garden.

Harlequin

Photo of Harlequin pattern

Every time I make a quilt with triangles, I wonder why I’m doing that pattern! But I like to challenge myself, so I picked the Harlequin pattern as one of my Sew Fun quilts.

A layer cake of Grunge Marks the Spot fabric brings the Harlequin quilt to life. Shades of solid gray fabric trailing off for a feeling of transparency and two other solids for accents to go with the layer cake. It’s never easy sewing those bias cuts, but with the help of a Creative Grids Kaleidoscope ruler, my cut triangles lined up great, and the quilt went together pretty quickly. In fact, I made the quilt top twice! (You’ll have to come to one of the February Sew Fun sessions to find out why.)
