What’s The Buzz: February Events at Rocky Mountain Sewing and Vacuum

February is a great month for those who love to sew. It’s cold and snowy out, so what better way to spend the day at one or more of our February events at RMSV .

Super Sale Kicks Off February Events

Super sale for February eventsOk, I’m from Louisiana and a New Orleans Saints fan, so you can probably imagine my disappointment that the Saints aren’t playing in the Super Bowl. BUT we’re having a Super Sale Feb 1 & 2 at all of our stores to help brighten the spirits of anyone whose team didn’t make it. If you’re a Patriots or Rams fan, then you’re probably in a pretty good mood, and maybe want to save some money at our sale.

Everything is at least 30% off, so what a great time to stock up on thread, stabilizer, notions or buy that sewing machine or vacuum you’ve been looking at. There’s even special financing for these two days, so be sure to stop in one of our stores and check it out.

OESD World of Embroidery Lecture / Demo

OESD logo for February eventsNext up in our schedule of February events is a great lecture-demo from OESD. This seminar is perfect for embroiderers of all skill levels and embroidery machines types. The event will be held at each store, and will be chocked full of great information. Learn essential embroidery techniques, including how to choose the right stabilizer, hooping placement and more from an embroidery expert. You will also learn how to create exciting project techniques like freestanding lace, tiling scenes, appliqué, quilting and in the hoop projects.

Come and get inspired by the beautiful embroidery samples and projects. Learn tips to make your embroidery stress free and fun.

I really love their free standing lace designs. I even wrote a blog, Let’s Build a Snowman: Freestanding Embroidered Snowman from OESD, on how to construct the snowman. Since then I have made several of the free standing designs —  Pumpkin Patch 2, Dresden Turkey, and Santa Claus.

Their great designs aren’t just limited to free-standing lace, however.  I bought the tile scene called “Starry Night Santa” and can’t wait to stitch it out.

Of course, there’s more designs than Thanksgiving or Christmas, and this program features a trunk show featuring 50+ design collections, so join us to see the beautiful designs they have to offer.

Registration is limited so sign up today! The cost of the event is $49.99 and includes lunch and a gift box worth $200 from OESD. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. Click on the link below to register for the class at your store:

Feels Like Spring is an appliqué pattern for embroidery machines. Daffodils, Tulips, Lilies of the Valley, Vinca Vines, Clematis and Passion Flower make this quilt come to life. Whatever size hoop you have for you machine will work as designs are split to fit in smaller hoops. Of course, no need to split designs if you have a larger hoop.

Stitch in the ditch, embroidery quilting and a little free motion add the finishing touches to the quilt.

The Event Center

It’s almost ready! Permits were finally issued and the contractor is working away. I met with Rob, Lynn and Larissa to check it out. Wow! Talk about space. It’s over 2500 ft² and has some wonderful features that will make holding classes and events there absolutely perfect.  The Event Center is located at  3535 South Platte River, Sheridan, CO 80110.  Stay tuned for information about an open house there.

You are right! I completely forgot to add the map. I’ve updated the blog to show it. Thanks for reading the blog and for the feedback!

Diane

An address for the Event Center would be nice, since it’s a new location and there was none listed on the class sign up page. I would like to know where I need to show up for the class so I don’t miss anything.
