Feeding Families

This year Rocky Mountain Sewing and Vacuum is teaming up with the Denver Rescue Mission and Colorado Springs Rescue Mission volunteers to feed families during Christmas. This is the third year we have done this, and we feel privileged to be a part of making a difference! We would like to invite you to join in. Here’s how your purchases will help:

In each store all sewing machines, sergers, cabinets, vacuums will have this sticker which will indicate how many families your purchases will feed. We will be completing the Feed a Family Campaign Monday, December 10th, and we will let everyone know how many families were fed in our next newsletter and on our social media sites. Thank you so much for your patronage. Not only do you get great products, but your purchases really help those in need.

Jelly Roll Race in Aurora

The folks at Aurora are at it again. They all had such a good time back in September with the jelly roll race that they’ve decided to host another one December 8. Sign up here and join the fun AND get a quilt top sewn together in just a few hours. All of the stores have a few jelly roll bundles available for sale. If you buy one from us, we’ll give you a $10 RMSV gift card on the day of the class. So stop in,  pick one out, and come to the race!

Holiday Open House

One of our biggest December events will be our Holiday Open Houses.  Come and join us to celebrate the holidays. Have some fun, food, and a short presentation of a few last minute projects our presenters have made that you can squeeze in before the holidays are over! Take the opportunity to mingle with friends, Sew Fun Educators, and employees.

Aurora: Tuesday, December 11, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Littleton: Wednesday, December 12, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Arvada: Thursday, December 13, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Colorado Springs: Friday, December 14,  6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Don’t forget to bring your Show and Tell projects as we’ll be wrapping up the 2018 UFO challenge. You will receive raffle tickets for the drawing for any UFO you present at Show and Tell during the party.  We will be drawing for the Brother NS1750D at each store the night of the party. We know not everyone can make it that night, so you need not be present to win the NS1750D.  (But we sure hope to see you there!)

2018 UFO Challenge

So, how did you do with the challenge? I must confess that I didn’t do great, but I did get a few of projects done that were really bugging me. I had struggled with some curtains for my granddaughter’s bedroom. Pinch pleats, netting with flowers on top and shear lining complicated the construction and made me reluctant to work on them. I finally got them done in September, though, along with a quilt for her bed.

I also completed a diaper bag for my nephew. The boy was well over a year old, but at least he was still in diapers! The family is a big Notre Dame fan, so this bag was a big hit.

Got the Halloween placemats done, but not the Christmas placemats.

Finished the Fall Jelly Roll quilt, but not the Topsy Turvy reindeer table runner.

Got the Christmas Classics quilt done, but not the Science Quilt.

I’m giving the Homestead wall hanging as a Christmas gift to one son, but the other son won’t get the Camper Wall Hanging.

I worked on my Alaska quilt but still have 4 blocks to piece and applique, not to mention sashing and quilting the thing. I will try to get that finished in 2019.

But, enough about me! I’d love to hear how many projects you completed that were on your 2018 challenge list. Just comment below.

Looking Forward to 2019

We’re excited for all the great things that will happen in 2019, including the completion of our Event Center. Stay tuned for more information on that, and a heads up on some of the events coming your way in 2019.  In the meantime, we sure hope you’ll join us at our Holiday Open Houses and help up close out 2018 with a bang!
