What’s The Buzz: August 2021 Happenings at Rocky Mountain Sewing and Vacuum

Oh, it is so good be be back in the stores for August 2021 events and sewing classes. We sure have missed everybody! To be sure, we are “over the moon” that we will have in-store Sew Fun this month, and we also have a full slate of in-store classes and events, and a special event at the Event Center. Woo hoo!

OESD Embroidery Essentials

We love our Event Center, but we also know that sometimes, you just want to stay close to home. So we’re bringing an OESD event to each of our four stores this month.

You don’t want to miss out on this fun, in-store Embroidery Essentials lecture-demo from OESD that includes a goody bag valued at over $200!

Learn essential embroidery techniques, including how to choose the right stabilizer, hooping placement, and more from an embroidery expert. Kimberbell Summer Nights – Event Center 08/21/21

Join us for Kimberbell’s one day machine embroidery August 2021 event!

Hands On Quilting & ProStitcher with HandiQuilter – Aurora 08/25/21

We wrap up August 2021 events with Handi Quilter class at our Aurora store.

Join us for a full day of hands-on learning! You will get the opportunity to have your hands on a machine, and learn from a Handi Quilter National Educator! Learn how to start getting more of your projects done, your way.

As a bonus learn all about Pro-stitcher. Whether finishing your own quilts or considering a quilting business, come see the elegant and precise quilting you can accomplish with Pro-Stitcher.

Aurora

Costume Workshop – Aurora 08/07/21

Learn to build costumes that currently exist only in your imagination!

Create your Cosplay or Halloween costumes under the supervision of a costume designer with over 25 years of experience.

In this class, you can build items custom fit for you. Projects either with or without a pattern are welcome. The crazier the better!

Beginners are invited, however it is advised that you know how to operate your machine. If you need help, don’t hesitate to sign up for one of our free usage classes.

Class is from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Cost for the class is $20.

Arvada

Jelly Roll Rug / Placemats / Coasters – Arvada 08/21/21

In this two part class you will make a rug or set of placemats and matching coasters. Either option is made using Jelly Roll strips and batting.  Using  a unique technique of folding the strips and then attaching the strips together, you make a wonderful rug that is washable!  NO CUTTING INVOLVED ! ! !

In the class, you will learn some tricks and helpful hints that you won’t get in the pattern instructions alone.

NOTE: This is a two part class — Saturday, August 21 and August 28, 2021 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Learn to Use Your Serger, part 1 – Colorado Springs 08/25/21

Got a new (or old) serger that’s sitting in your closet because you’re really not comfortable with using it? Well how about attending one of our free instore classes and “Learn to Use Your Serger”.

Of course, we have a host of machine usage classes at our Colorado Springs store (and at all of our Denver-area stores, as well). So check out our class calendars and find just the one you need!

Littleton

Paper Piecing – Catch Me If You Can – Littleton 08/26/21

This beautiful quilt requires knowledge of the paper foundation method. Classes will meet monthly to work on that particular month’s part of the quilt. Finished quilt is 80″ x 80″. The packet for this class includes all foundation papers to piece together this beautiful quilt. Class will run approximately one year. 

Cost for each class is $20. The class meets from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Sew Fun

What do Laura Heine and Pat Sloan have in common with Terry Gonzales?Well, Terry will be showing you some projects designed by Laura Heine and Pat Sloan at our first in-person Sew Fun since February, 2020!

As always we have a bunch more sweet projects to show you! So mark your calendars and plan on joining us at your local store.
