April Sew Fun at RMSV

by Cathy Ellsaesser, posted on

I am so excited to be the April Sew Fun presenter. Truth be told, I am also a little nervous. I love to sew, and I love writing this blog, sharing some of my projects with you through the photos and drawings. On the other hand, it’s a little intimidating to have your work passed around for inspection!

All-in-all, though, I think you’ll like the projects, and I’m hoping you’ll be inspired to create your own versions of them.

Home of the Free

My husband was in the U.S. Navy. My Dad was a WWII veteran, my brother a Vietnam veteran and my great nephew is a U.S. Marine. Patriotism runs deep. So I love this wall hanging.

I personalized the dog tags with the veteran’s name and branch of service. The author of the design from Primrose Lane suggests that you could put the names of veterans on the red stripes if you are honoring multiple vets with the wall hanging.

We brought in the CD with the embroidery design digitized for sew out. We also brought in the paper pattern for hand embroidery if you are so inclined. Either way, it’s a wonderful tribute to the veteran(s) in your life.

Fetch Your Sketch

Fetch Your Sketch portfolio for April Sew Fun

Calling all Picassos! This art portfolio from ByAnnie is just perfect for the artist on the go. My grandkids love the chalkboard mat. Two zippered see-through pockets hold scissors, markers, pencils and more. Two elastic-topped mesh pockets are perfect for boxes of crayons and chalk.

The portfolio opens to 11”H x 24”W with two slip pockets for storing two 9” x 12” drawing pads or coloring books. It measures 11”H x 14”W x 2” deep when closed, and has two sturdy handles as well as a removable adjustable strap for hands-free cross-body carrying.

Monogram the front to personalize it for your favorite artist.
